Desire and attention
Richard and Fido walk around the property, with Richard clicking for attention.
Hi Kaye,
It's a hot one here so Fido and I went down to our creek and wallowed in the
miraculous spring flush.
I've deviated, hopefully onto track, into thinking all I need from this pup
is 'desire and attention'. Everything else is irrelevant for now. They seem
to me to be the most important letters of the alphabet he'll master, if he's
to go on and show himself.
For our walk I had two clickers, a lead, a plastic bag, liver and sausage.
And for entertainment a scruffy bit of bush where the birds and frogs draw
me to bringing a tape recorder sometimes.
He has a wider range so I acknowledge any waiting he 'chooses to do' and any
'look at me'. Other than that I chat to him as a friend. We share the pool,
the heat, delicious bushy smells and we think the only 'shame' is that so
few enjoy life like this.
Now I can do the walk without communicating directly with him at all and, at
the end of it, feel like we have had a very good walk.
I'll call later,
Cheers,
Richard
